What will your typical day look like?

• Lead client strategy and discovery workshops focused on data migration, data governance, security, performance benchmarking, target-state architecture, and migration guiding principles to establish a scalable AWS-based data platform vision aligned to business objectives.
• Own end-to-end data migration architecture and solutioning, including migration strategy, architecture blueprints, migration patterns, tooling recommendations, solution alternatives, risk assessments, and roadmap development for large-scale modernization initiatives.
• Drive Architecture Review Board (ARB) and governance approvals by preparing architecture artifacts, presenting solution options, addressing stakeholder concerns, and obtaining sign-off on target-state architecture, security controls, and migration approaches.
• Provide technical leadership and design governance to delivery teams by defining detailed migration architectures, data integration patterns, data models, validation frameworks, performance optimization approaches, and non-functional requirements across the migration lifecycle.
• Establish and enforce data security, governance, and compliance standards by implementing AWS-native security patterns, access controls, encryption strategies, data protection mechanisms, metadata management, lineage, auditing, and monitoring capabilities.
• Enable efficient upstream and downstream data movement through the adoption of reusable automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, data ingestion and orchestration patterns, migration accelerators, and operational controls that improve reliability, scalability, and delivery speed.

About the team

We are seeking an experienced AWS Data Architect Lead to lead the architecture and delivery of complex, enterprise-scale data modernisation and migration programmes on AWS.

In this client-facing leadership role, you will shape data strategy, define target-state architectures, establish migration and governance frameworks, and provide technical direction throughout the transformation lifecycle. You will work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders, architecture governance forums, and delivery teams to translate business objectives into scalable, secure, and high-performing AWS data solutions.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

• Significant experience designing and leading enterprise data architecture, data modernisation, and large-scale migration initiatives, ideally within complex client environments.
• Deep hands-on architectural knowledge of AWS data services, particularly Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, AWS Lake Formation, AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, IAM, and KMS.
• Strong understanding of cloud data migration patterns, including ingestion, transformation, integration, orchestration, validation, reconciliation, and performance optimisation.
• Experience designing enterprise data lake, data warehouse, and cloud-native data platform architectures.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, security architecture, access management, encryption, metadata, lineage, auditing, and monitoring.
• Experience working with Architecture Review Boards or equivalent enterprise architecture governance forums, including developing and defending architecture recommendations.
• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and reusable deployment or migration frameworks within cloud data environments.
• Ability to assess architecture alternatives, identify delivery and technical risks, and translate complex technical decisions into clear recommendations.
• Strong client-facing consulting, workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership across architecture, engineering, migration, security, and delivery teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
• AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate.
• Experience leading complex cloud transformation or data platform modernisation programmes.
• Experience developing reusable architecture patterns, migration accelerators, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Consulting or professional-services experience working with senior technology and business stakeholders is an asset.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $84,000 - $175,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
