Overview

The Undergraduate Recruitment team plays plays a key role in supporting Lakehead University's enrolment goals, and completes extensive travel, combining local and national outreach efforts to effectively attract future Thunderwolves.

Acting as an ambassador representing Lakehead University in a range of new student recruitment activities and events, the Recruitment Officer plays a key role in leading the coordination and implementation of a portfolio of strategic recruitment events and programs.

Responsibilities

• Supports the coordination and facilitation of recruitment events (e.g., Open Houses, Preview Days and Applicant Receptions), including scheduling, speaker/vendor communication, and timeline management.
• Develops and distributes event materials; utilizes prospect data to guide recruitment initiatives.
• Inputs and maintains prospective student data in CMS/CRM systems.
• Tracks and reports on recruitment activities, successes, and opportunities quarterly/annually.
• Recruits, coordinates, and recognizes event volunteers.
• Assesses event effectiveness and implement improvements.
• Collaborates with faculty/staff to enhance engagement and participation.
• Researches emerging trends in event management and student engagement.
• Supports recruitment promotions (e.g., Home for the Holidays, Hear from our Thunderwolves).
• Supports fall/spring high school and College transfer recruitment scheduling

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of experience working in a post-secondary setting in the field of student recruitment and marketing
• Excellent communication and marketing skills
• Proficiency in advanced levels of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and publishing programs and laptop technology
• Organizational skills and project/event management skills
• Excellent judgment and decision making skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume
• Excellent customer service skills
• Be a self-starter
• Demonstrated excellence in public speaking with the ability to create and deliver dynamic presentations
• Knowledge of emerging communication technologies (ie. web development, e-communications, social media)
• A valid Ontario driver's license and a willingness and ability to travel on university business, often on short notice
