POSITION SUMMARY
AAnishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services (AAFS) is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager of Support Services to provide leadership and operational oversight for key support service functions within the Agency.
Reporting to the Director of Services , the Manager of Support Services oversees the Staff Training Coordinator, Privacy Officer, Education Liaison Worker, and Legal Services Coordinator to ensure support services are coordinated, accountable, culturally appropriate, and aligned with applicable legislation, Agency policies, and service standards. The successful candidate will support cross-departmental collaboration and strengthen internal systems that contribute to high-quality child welfare services and positive outcomes for children, youth, and families.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the Staff Training Coordinator, Privacy Officer, Education Liaison Worker, and Legal Services Coordinator.
- Oversee legal support, privacy compliance, educational liaison services, staff training, and support service functions across the Agency.
- Monitor workflows, establish priorities, and ensure services are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Support recruitment, orientation, performance management, and professional development of assigned staff.
- Ensure compliance with the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Part X privacy obligations, Agency policies, and applicable service standards.
- Coordinate with Agency legal counsel, schools, community partners, and First Nation communities to support integrated service delivery.
- Support development and implementation of policies, procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and operational processes.
- Prepare reports, summaries, statistics, and updates related to support service activities and operational trends.
- Promote culturally appropriate service delivery grounded in Anishinaabe values, traditions, and community involvement.
- Participate in management meetings, committees, special projects, and organizational initiatives as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Education, Law, Business Administration, Indigenous Studies, or a related field; Master’s degree considered an asset.
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience in child welfare, social services, legal services, privacy, education support, training, compliance, or program administration.
- Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, including privacy obligations under Part X, and related child welfare standards.
- Knowledge of Customary Care, First Nation communities, Anishinaabe traditions, and cultural practices.
- Demonstrated experience in legal support processes, privacy compliance, education liaison services, training coordination, and program administration.
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information professionally.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, client databases, learning management systems, and reporting tools.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check, internal records check, and Driver’s Abstract required.
- Ability to speak Anishinaabemowin is preferred and considered an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work will primarily be performed in a typical office environment at AAFS headquarters in Kenora, with travel required to First Nation communities and external meetings as needed. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Benefits: AAFS offers 5 weeks of paid vacation, Extended Health, Dental, AD&D, and Group Life benefits to this position after one month of employment as well as voluntary participation in our Pension Program
Salary Range: $87,004.40- $106,705.08
