Manager, Commodity Tax

What You’ll Do:The Manager, Commodity Tax, will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of Indirect tax affairs, managing tax audits, and ensuring proper monthly tax compliance.Oversee, review, and assist with the preparation of indirect tax returns and ensure it is filed accurately and on a timely basis.Stay current on sales tax changes; analyze the implications of any changes to federal and provincial commodity tax rules, published rulings, interpretations, and court cases, and communicate to the appropriate businesses.Manage federal and provincial commodity tax audits including participation to negotiate and settle audit disputes.Train, mentor, and develop other team associates to encourage cross training, succession, and compelling career pathsDetermine federal and provincial commodity tax implications of recurring and unusual transactions with a view to minimizing tax cost to the CTC group and its subsidiariesCommunicate and interact with various outside stakeholders including the vendors, customers (through customer relations) and government officials.Design/Improve processes to achieve operational efficiency and automation as well as data accuracy with respect to the accounting of commodity taxesParticipate in special projects as required and as identified for exposure rectification or realization of opportunities.What You Bring:Completion of Accounting Designation5+ years working experience in commodity taxStrong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills to build professional relationships with other finance and business teams across EnterpriseProven ability to solve problems, propose alternatives to resolve issues and identify process improvement opportunitiesAbility to prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain exceptional attention to detailDemonstrated ability to plan and manage workloads and assigned projectsWe’re always looking for great talent!
