Communications Manager 3 Month Term

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a 3 Month Term Communications Manager to join our leadership team.

Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, the 3 Month Term Communications Manager plans, coordinates and implements our communications and public relations strategies. Responsible for creative support for the organization in all areas of media relations, external communications, public engagement initiatives, the corporate website, social media strategy and content.

You will research, coordinate, write, edit and produce a wide variety of internal/eternal communications. Assist the Director of Community Engagement with the ongoing development and implementation of the public engagement/communications 'tool kit' and templates to assist departments in their communication efforts. 

In short, we want you to be able to write and speak well, then make us look AMAZING through your graphic design skills…no pressure!

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will have the ability to obtain a professional certification from the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• A minimum 2 years of experience in a communications/public engagement position in a government setting. 
• Knowledge of project management principal
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 
• An understanding of key issues and requirements for communication in a local government context.
• Strong speaking, writing and editing skills with the ability to write in a variety of styles and media, including business-to-business communications and other corporate communications.
• A strong understanding of digital communication strategies and fluency with core social media channels (FaceBook, Twitter, Linkedin and Instagram). Demonstrated success in the development of participatory models of engagement using online resources, discussion forums and social media initiatives.
• Strong graphic design skills
• Ability to track work with precision and produce clear, compelling, effective reports.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings an weekends.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory police information check and hold a minimum Class 5 Drivers’ Licence as a condition of employment.

This is an exempt 3 month term full time position, the rate of pay will be $45.00 per hour
