Lead Hand Journeyman HVAC Technician

Location: Burnaby, BC
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Work Location: In Person
Pay: CA$50–$75 per hour, based on experience

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Hand Journeyman HVAC Technician to join our growing team in Burnaby, BC.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician , strong commercial HVAC expertise, and previous leadership or supervisory experience.

As a Lead Hand, you will oversee field crews, coordinate daily work, mentor apprentices and technicians, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

You will remain hands-on in the field while serving as a key point of contact for technicians, project managers, dispatch, customers, and other trades.

Leadership & Team Coordination

• Lead and supervise HVAC technicians and apprentices on service and installation projects
• Coordinate daily work activities, manpower, materials, and equipment requirements
• Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to technicians and apprentices
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule and according to company standards
• Communicate effectively with project managers, dispatch, customers, and other trades
• Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures
• Help maintain a positive, professional, and productive job site

Technical Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems
• Work with rooftop units, furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, air conditioners, make-up air units, and ventilation systems
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues
• Develop and implement effective technical solutions
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance
• Complete system commissioning as required
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and mechanical plans
• Ensure installations and repairs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards
• Complete service reports, deficiency reports, and project documentation accurately and on time
• Assist with estimating materials, equipment requirements, and project planning when required

Qualifications & Requirements

• Red Seal Journeyman HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic certification required
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician
• Previous Lead Hand, Foreman, or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong commercial HVAC installation and troubleshooting experience
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and mechanical drawings
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
• Professional customer service skills
