Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Temporary Part-Time)

ROLE  

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, some of the duties include;

• Triage and assess patients using CTAS guidelines and initiate emergency care based on clinical priorities

• Administer medications, treatments, and diagnostics as per physician orders and medical directives, in line with CNO standards

• Assist in emergency procedures, trauma response, and Code situations, ensuring readiness for Code Orange and CBRNE events

• Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, and charge staff in patient care planning, documentation, and department operations

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, maintain current emergency nursing competencies, and ensure proper stock and supply levels

• Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)  

• Current Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario 
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Current IV certification, including management of central lines
• Current CPR

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S) 

• Minimum 2 years’ clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting
• Effective time management skills
• Excellent client counselling, interpersonal and communication skills

 

DESIRED SKILLS , EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION  

• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Certification).
• Successful completion of related Emergency courses.
• PALS, ENC (c) & other Emergency & Critical Care Education Preferred.
• Current CTAS certification.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

 

Location:  South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

 

Hours of Work:   Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
