Job Summary:

The Major Gifts Officer plays an important role in advancing the philanthropic priorities of the Paralympic Foundation of Canada. This position strengthens major gift fundraising by providing high-quality prospect research, compelling proposal development, and coordinated behind-the-scenes support across solicitation and stewardship efforts.

 

Collaborating closely with frontline fundraisers and foundation leadership, the Major Gifts Officer helps ensure that major gift prospects and donors are engaged with clear, strategic, and mission-aligned materials that demonstrate how philanthropy creates a more inclusive Canada through Paralympic sport.

 

This role is ideal for someone who is energized by national impact, enjoys turning complex Para sport systems into clear and compelling donor narratives, and takes pride in enabling transformative philanthropic partnerships behind the scenes.

 

Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000 – $68,000 annually plus benefits

Reports: Executive Director , Paralympic Foundation of Canada

Location: Remote within Canada, with travel to CPC head office in Ottawa for occasional in-person meetings.

Main Duties & Responsibilities :


  • Conduct prospect research to identify, qualify, and prioritize major gift prospects aligned with the foundation’s philanthropic priorities and strategic objectives 

  • Prepare donor briefings, research summaries, and internal materials to support solicitation and engagement strategies

  • Develop customized funding proposals, cases for support, and presentations that connect donor interests to nationally delivered Para sport programs, athlete development pathways, and broader community initiatives

  • Support solicitation activity by coordinating timelines, tracking moves, and ensuring alignment between foundation leadership and frontline fundraisers

  • Assist with donor stewardship, including impact reporting, donor communications, and recognition that reflect Paralympic Foundation of Canada outcomes and system-level impact

  • Maintain accurate prospect strategies, solicitation activity, and reporting within the CRM

  • Provide analytical, administrative, and coordination support to strengthen major gift planning and decision-making

Qualifications & Skills:


  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills

  • High attention to detail and comfort managing multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Understanding of major gift fundraising and donor-center relationship management

  • Interest in high-performance and community Para sport systems and creating opportunities for people with disabilities

  • Ability to work discreetly and collaboratively within a matrixed environment that includes fundraising, governance, and sport operations

 

Working Conditions  


  • Remote Environment: working remotely from Canada most of the time and as needed in the office. 


  • The CPC Head Office is currently located in Ottawa, ON. 


  • Staff based outside of Ottawa will be expected to travel to Ottawa a few times a year or as the job demands. 


  • Overnight and overseas travel and off-site work required (e.g., Games, Site Visits, Events, Meetings, etc.) 


  • Will be required to work evenings and weekends during busy periods, including Games and other special events.

Résumé des fonctions :

Le ou la responsable des dons majeurs joue un rôle important dans la concrétisation des priorités philanthropiques de la Fondation paralympique canadienne. Il ou elle contribue au renforcement des activités de collecte de dons majeurs en effectuant des recherches sur les donatrices et donateurs potentiels avec rigueur et dans un souci de qualité, en élaborant des propositions convaincantes et en coordonnant en coulisses le soutien aux efforts de sollicitation et de gestion.

 

En étroite collaboration avec les collectrices et collecteurs de fonds de première ligne et la direction de la Fondation, le ou la responsable des dons majeurs veille à ce que les auteur(e)s éventuel(le)s de dons majeurs ainsi que les donatrices et donateurs soient mobilisés grâce à des documents clairs, stratégiques et conformes à la mission, qui illustrent le rôle de la philanthropie dans la création d’un Canada plus inclusif grâce au sport paralympique.

 

Ce poste est idéal pour une personne désireuse de générer des retombées à l’échelle nationale, qui aime transformer les systèmes parasportifs complexes en des récits clairs et convaincants pour les donatrices et donateurs, et qui est fière de favoriser en coulisses des partenariats philanthropiques transformateurs.

Lieu : À distance, au Canada, avec des déplacements occasionnels au siège social du CPC, à Ottawa, pour des réunions en présentiel

Tâches et responsabilités principales :


  • Effectuer des recherches afin de cibler, de qualifier et de hiérarchiser des auteur(e)s potentiel(le)s de dons majeurs qui correspondent aux priorités philanthropiques et aux objectifs stratégiques de la Fondation; 

  • Préparer des notes d’information, des résumés de recherche et des documents internes sur les donateurs et donatrices afin d’accompagner la mise en œuvre des stratégies de sollicitation et de mobilisation;

  • Élaborer et personnaliser des propositions de financement, des argumentaires pour la collecte de fonds et des présentations afin de mettre en adéquation les priorités des donatrices et donateurs avec les programmes parasportifs nationaux, les parcours de développement des athlètes et l’élargissement des initiatives communautaires;

  • Soutenir les activités de sollicitation en coordonnant les calendriers, en effectuant un suivi des démarches entreprises et en veillant à l’harmonisation des efforts de la direction de la Fondation et des collectrices et collecteurs de fonds de première ligne;

  • Aider à fidéliser les donatrices et donateurs avec des rapports d’incidence, des communications et des activités de reconnaissance reflétant les résultats de la Fondation paralympique canadienne et ses retombées systémiques;

  • Actualiser les stratégies d’identification de donateurs et donatrices potentiels, les activités de sollicitation et les rapports dans le système de GRC;

  • Fournir un soutien analytique, administratif et de coordination afin d’éclairer la planification et la prise de décision relative aux dons majeurs.

Qualifications et compétences :


  • Compétences solides en recherche, rédaction et analytique;

  • Grand souci du détail et capacité à gérer des priorités et échéances multiples;

  • Maîtrise des enjeux de la collecte de dons majeurs et de la gestion des relations avec les donatrices et donateurs;

  • Intérêt pour les systèmes parasportifs communautaires et de haut niveau et volonté de créer des possibilités pour les personnes en situation de handicap;

  • Capacité à travailler de manière discrète et collaborative dans un environnement matriciel associant collecte de fonds, gouvernance et opérations sportives.

 

Conditions de travail  


  • Environnement de travail à distance – Travail à distance au Canada, la majeure partie du temps, et au bureau, au besoin. 


  • Le siège social du CPC se situe actuellement à Ottawa, en Ontario. 


  • Le personnel basé à l’extérieur d’Ottawa devra se rendre à Ottawa plusieurs fois par an ou selon les exigences du poste. 


  • Des déplacements de plus de 24 h et à l’étranger ainsi que du travail hors site seront requis (Jeux, visites de sites, événements, réunions, etc.). 

  • Il sera nécessaire de travailler les soirs et les fins de semaine lors des périodes chargées, notamment pendant les Jeux et lors d’autres événements spéciaux.
