ALTERNATIVE SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

Are you interested in Teaching? Do you have a Bachelor’s Degree?

As a minimum requirement, successful candidates will have an academic qualification of a bachelor’s degree or is in the fourth year of a five-year integrated Bachelor of Education program or is enrolled in a two-year Bachelor of Education program.

Upon completion of receiving a permit to teach, successful candidates will be substitute teachers on an on-call basis for Tri-County Regional Centre for Education Schools located in Digby, Shelburne, & Yarmouth Counties. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science, English, French, Business, Arts or related field;

• Qualify for a Permit to Teach;

• Experience working with children is an asset;

• Proven ability to communicate and work alongside diverse cultural and racial backgrounds;

Characteristics 

• Have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;

• Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team;

• Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism;

• Have the ability to maintain confidentiality in all issues related to student, parents and school.

• Follow a substitute teaching plan as provided by the School;

• Promote and facilitate positive interactions among all students;

• Model appropriate problem solving and conflict resolution;

• Communicate effectively with School Administration, teachers, school personnel and students;

• Abide by regional policies;

• Respect privacy and confidentiality.
