Handyman/ Woman (NOC 73201)

Job Category: Maintenance/Motel

• Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs
• Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse
• Empty trash cans and other waste containers
• Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings
• Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for any out of scope items
• Perform minor repairs on appliances
• Perform safety and security checks
• Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies
• Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
• Work with minimal supervision
• Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas
• Willing to train for all aspects of the job
• Ability to work individually with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Ability to perform tasks required bending, stooping and kneeling and lifting up to 50lbs
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical work, drywall, painting, and grounds keeping
• Valid driver’s license
• Skill in the use of a variety of skilled trade tools (including both hand and electric tools)
• Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment
• Knowledge of building components, water systems, gas pumps, sewer lines, water lines an asset
• Ability to move and work throughout the hotel for the duration of shift indoors and outdoors
• Communication skills in order to communicate with co-workers and hotel guests and fully comprehend job assignments
• Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Criminal record check
• Reference required
• Valid Drivers License
• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred
• Computer and technology knowledge
