Warehouse Forklift Operator

Summary

This position is responsible for the movement of product from one location to another in a safe, cost-effective manner. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the Distribution Center area, along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. This position will assist with daily warehouse operations, including operating forklifts and push/pull equipment, relocating and storing products, conducting inventory counts, maintaining housekeeping standards, and completing and issuing required documentation. It is imperative that the person(s) conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures the movement of finished product in a safe and secure manner.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable Company practices and procedures outlined in the Distribution Center and Plant policies and procedures.
• Utilizes the computerized inventory system accurately and ensures that all documents and reports are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensures the adherence to the daily forklift checklist procedure for its safe operation and maintenance as established by the Company.
• Ensures proper operation of forklifts by changing batteries on forklift and checking brake and hydraulic oil in all forklifts.
• Ensures that sanitation conditions are maintained, and shippable finished goods are in compliance with Company and government food safety standards.
• Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and divisional standards.

Typical Education

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Relevant Experience

• Have a minimum of six (6) months of experience as a cold storage/warehouse forklift operator within the past three (3) years or equivalent forklift experience.

Other Information

• Ability to safely operate a forklift, loading and unloading trucks, and high stacking totes.
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 2 weeks on nights and 2 weeks on days, working every other weekend.
  
• Dedicated employee shuttle service is available from Winnipeg and Brandon.
  
• Forklift and aerial lift operation required (training and certification provided); must meet fall protection requirements.
  
• Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in a manner to successfully perform the job duties.
  
• Must demonstrate basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and computer skills.
  
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 80 pounds.
  
• Must be able to work in extreme environments (cold, hot, wet and dry), inside and outside of warehouse area.
