Senior Director, AI Business Enablement (Toronto)
Royal Bank of Canada
Job Description Senior Director, AI Business Enablement
What’s the opportunity? We're looking for a transformational leader who can serve as a strategic peer to senior business executives and drive AI-powered business transformation across an entire Line of Business or Function. As a Senior Director on the AI Business Enablement team, you will own the full AI transformation ambition for your domain – setting the vision, building the opportunity pipeline, and ensuring executive alignment from ideation through to program framing and handoff.
You will be expected to challenge, provoke, and co-develop transformation roadmaps with senior business leaders – bringing a combination of strategic rigour, AI fluency, and the credibility that comes from having built and shipped solutions, not just recommended them.
Your responsibilities will include: Executive partnership: Holding sustained, peer‑level strategic relationships with senior business leaders (SVP+); co‑developing and communicating the AI‑enabled transformation vision for your domain
Pipeline origination: Identifying, sizing, and prioritising a rigorous pipeline of AI transformation opportunities – including new ideas not yet on the business’ horizon – with quantified value hypotheses ready for delivery intake
AI solution concept development: Generating innovative AI solution concepts for large business problems and validating them through rapid POC cycles (weeks, not quarters)
Business model & process re‑engineering: Helping leaders fundamentally rethink business processes and operating models through an AI‑enabled lens
Program framing: Partnering with business leaders beyond ideation – through business case development, go‑to‑market strategy, and program framing – to ensure ambition translates into execution
Delivery partnership: Working closely with our world‑class AI Solutions and Research teams to ensure business context and outcomes expectations are carried through into delivery – maintaining alignment between the transformation ambition and the technical execution path
Cross‑enterprise pattern recognition: Surfacing reuse opportunities, multi‑LOB programs, and horizontal themes that no single vertical would initiate alone
Team leadership: Leading and developing a small team of high‑performing leaders aligned to sub‑segments within your domain
You're our ideal candidate if you: Have 15+ years of progressive experience in management consulting, technology, AI/ML product development, or a combination thereof
Have a track record of building AI or technology‑driven solutions that created material business impact – strategy and advisory experience is valued, but must be complemented by accountability for delivery outcomes
Possess the executive gravitas and communication skills to challenge and influence senior business leaders (SVP+) as a peer
Have demonstrated experience in process re‑engineering or business model redesign, ideally enabled by technology or data
Have experience partnering with technical or engineering teams to translate business requirements into solution design and ensure delivery stays aligned to intended business outcomes
Bring a consultative problem‑solving approach – able to structure ambiguous problems, develop hypotheses, and drive to action quickly
Have a working knowledge of AI/ML technologies, LLMs, and data platforms – sufficient to credibly assess feasibility, shape solution concepts, and engage technical teams
Banking or financial services experience is welcome but not required; what matters is the ability to rapidly develop domain depth and business‑model understanding in complex industries
What's in it for you: Lead AI transformation at one of Canada's largest and most respected financial institutions, with direct visibility to Group Head and Operating Committee level leadership at RBC
Shape the mandate and culture of a newly formed, high‑impact function within RBC's AI Group
A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible advantages, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock options where applicable
Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
Ability to make a difference and lasting impact from a local‑to‑global scale
