The Opportunity (Vacancy: Replacement)

Reporting to the Programmer, Active Living, the Active Living Lead supports the delivery of safe, inclusive, and customer-focused fitness programs while assisting with the day-to-day operations of the fitness centre. This role plays a key part in creating a welcoming environment and ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants. As the Active Living Lead, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

• Deliver fitness classes, personal training sessions, and fitness orientations in alignment with Town guidelines and/or certifying organization standards.


• Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of a variety of fitness programs, services, and initiatives.


• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility by completing routine maintenance and equipment inspections, setup and storage tasks.


• Provide active supervision on the fitness centre floor to ensure participant safety and engagement.


• Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.


• Complete administrative tasks in accordance with Town standards and timelines (e.g., program materials, attendance tracking, class lists, worksheets, injury/incident reports, etc.).


• Assist with additional duties and special projects as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with training and/or knowledge in the above, normally acquired from an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate. Education acquired through a post-secondary diploma or degree in Kinesiology, Fitness and Lifestyle, Recreation Studies, or closely related field is considered an asset.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum one (1) year of progressive experience in Personal Training and/or Fitness Instructor experience. Certifications in Personal Training, Fitness Instructing, and Standard First Aid & CPR C from recognized institutions are required. Additional certifications in the Fitness Industry are assets. This individual will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to obtain and exchange routine information along with demonstrated capability to act as a leader within a functional area.

The successful candidate for Active Living Lead will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the facility, and after hours (as required). The position requires active movement (inc. lifting, pulling, pushing); lifting up to 25lbs and occasional travel to various town sites and external meetings.

This position offers up to 24 hours per week with an hourly rate range of $28.60to $35.75 .

Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
