Minimum Requirements

• 5 years of experience supporting hydrogeological programs in mining, oil sands, or other industrial operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer/Geologist designation (P.Eng / P.Geo.).
• Expertise supporting hydrogeological programs in mining, oil sands, or other industrial operations.
• Experience with geophysical interpretation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute hydrogeological studies and technical assignments within defined project scope and business objectives.
• Assess groundwater management system performance, data quality, technical analyses, and contractor deliverables to support quality, consistency, and continuous improvement.
• Compile, interpret, and analyze hydrogeological data to identify key issues and develop clear, risk‑based recommendations.
• Prepare technical reports, performance summaries, and regulatory documentation for internal use and submission to regulatory agencies.
• Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders, operations leadership, and cross‑functional project teams.
• Represent the Water Resources team on integrated project teams, providing expertise on groundwater management, water quantity, water quality, and aquatic environmental issues.
• Support annual business planning, scope development, prioritization of hydrogeological programs, and responsible budget management.

Location and other Key details

• You will work out of our Syncrude Mildred Lake site in Fort McMurray or our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 –6th Ave S.W.
• Hours of work are a regular 40‑hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.
• Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will be based on years of experience and scope of work.
• If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
