Mechanical Estimator Pre-Construction

Mechanical estimating expertise drives accurate budgets, quantity take-offs, and bid submissions at EllisDon across complex construction projects. This role is client-facing.As an Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will prepare estimates throughout project lifecycles and phasing. Your work spans hard-bid, construction management, design-build, and stipulated-price submissions. You will coordinate mechanical scopes with architectural, civil, structural, and electrical estimators while supporting subcontractor buyout.Key Responsibilities:
Prepare pre-construction estimates, budgets, and guaranteed maximum price submissionsComplete quantity take-offs for labor, equipment, and materialsReview drawings, tender documents, contracts, and scope narrativesCoordinate scope delineation and estimating matrices with multidisciplinary estimatorsOrganize subcontractor quotes and support negotiations and buyoutRequirements:
Intermediate or senior mechanical contracting or construction estimating experienceKnowledge of estimating strategies, techniques, and construction contractsAbility to read engineering drawings and calculate mathematical extensionsExperience estimating mission-critical, industrial, pharmaceutical, or life-science projectsKnowledge of plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, and BAS/BMS systemsApply mechanical estimating, construction contracts, and quantity take-off expertise to EllisDon’s pre-construction and bidding work.
