Job Responsibility: Your Opportunity: The Geriatric Mental Health Day Treatment Service (DTS) is located at Bridgeland Seniors Health Centre. The team includes mental health clinicians from multiple clinical backgrounds and psychiatrists who specialize in geriatric mental health. The DTS team works to support mental health recovery for individuals aged 65 and older to maintain their health and to continue to live in the community. DTS is a ten-week, group-based program. The program offers psychiatry assessment and follow-up. The team works closely together providing both individual and group therapy to clients to manage depression and/or anxiety. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description: As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications: Completion of one of the following programs: a Master's degree in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications: 2 years' experience in Geriatric Mental Health required. 2 years' experience facilitating psychoeducational and therapeutic groups. 3 years' experience in mental health in an area of sufficient acuity and complexity to provide skill in mental health assessment, risk assessment, provisional diagnoses for clients with a broad range of diagnoses. Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills including Outlook, MS Word and Excel required. A demonstrated track record of developing effective relationships with diverse professionals required. Ability to participate and contribute to program development. Preferred Qualifications: Connect care training is an asset. Group facilitation experience is an asset.
