The Cloverdale Community Kitchen (CCK) is a faith-based organization that exists to build a strong and healthy community with a focus on alleviating poverty. Our major area of emphasis is food security for the most vulnerable in our population. Our desire is to be a provider for people striving to regain the basic necessities of life, to help restore their dignity and hope, empowering them to be full and active participants in the community. The Cloverdale Community Kitchen offers hope to individuals, seniors, and families in need throughout Cloverdale, Surrey, White Rock and Langley by providing:
- Warm, nutritious meals for the underprivileged
- Shelter during the cold winter months
- A place to find care and community
The cook will prepare, present, store, and dispatch all food products for the Meals on Wheels program. This will include menu-planning, meal preparation for up to 250 meals per day, and volunteer oversight all in compliance with health and safety regulations and ensuring adherence to all sanitary and safe food handling guidelines at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure and provide consistent food preparation and the highest caliber of food presentation.
- Provide leadership and direction to volunteer team.
- Ensure cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in the various kitchen areas including refrigerators and storerooms. Ensure that the kitchen prep area is maintained at the highest level of cleanliness at all times, especially during food production.
- Ensure food products are rotated to ensure high standards of freshness by keeping refrigerators and storerooms organized and maintained.
- Assume an active role in the production and presentation of all food products to maintain the best quality food style possible while adhering to menu specifications.
- Strive to uphold a safe working environment and be Health and Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining and improving a safe work environment.
- Carry out other related duties which may be assigned from time to time.
- Adhere to all Storehouse Guidelines, Policies, Rules and Regulations.
- Follow all food service standards and specifications.
- Supports other CCK Programs as requested.
- Support the team by serving as a backup to other departments or ministry activities as requested.
- Contribute to the fundraising initiatives and efforts of The Storehouse.
- Contribute to a healthy team culture by participating in organization wide initiatives, meetings and events.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Some travel may be required.
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
- Ability to lift 50lb required.
- Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
- Overtime as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 - 32 per week
