The Green Line LRT - SE Project is hiring Engineer in Training (EIT) positions to support the successful delivery of the program. The EITs will have an opportunity to develop the 22 engineering competencies, as per the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

Reporting to the Manager - Technical Design, you will assist the Technical team with design related activities leading up to, and during construction. Primary duties include:

• Assist Senior Engineers with technical design development and coordination of Green Line infrastructure, systems, and multidisciplinary deliverables.
• Plan and coordinate multi-disciplinary functions to achieve integrated design solutions.
• Support design scope, technical risks, interfaces, and change management.
• Support planning, scheduling, cost management, and quality assurance activities associated with project design and execution.
• Coordinate technical discussions between The City, Business Units, partner organizations, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Plan and coordinate technical reviews, design workshops, value engineering initiatives, and constructability assessments to optimize project outcomes.
• Assist Senior Engineers with procurement, contract administration, testing and commissioning, and issue resolution throughout project delivery.
• Assist Senior Engineers with compliance checks against applicable industry standards, Calgary Transit requirements, environmental commitments, and safety management processes.

• Support strategic planning, innovation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts within the Technical Design team.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or Related Engineering Discipline and registration as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) by the first day of work.
• Those hired prior to graduation from an undergraduate Engineering degree must be registered as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) no later than three months from their start date.
• An intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Experience with design and project management is considered an asset.
• A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or a provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
• Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, great organizational skills and problem-solving skills are required for success in this position.
• A demonstrated ability to interpret and understand technical information, as well as the ability to follow directions, and strong business skills are required to excel in this role.

• This position works full time from the office, with no remote work options available.
