Credit Assistant

Job Responsibility: Overview: Coordinates and executes accounts receivable activities for an assigned portfolio of accounts to ensure payments are received within the term, investigating any discrepancies. Assist in setting up new customer accounts, releases orders on credit hold and provide periodic and/or ad-hoc update on customer accounts. Reviews and investigates any payment discrepancies, collection and reconciliation of accounts. Responsibilities:

• Prioritize, reviews and follow-ups on all assigned accounts daily via phone and email to ensure cash flow objectives are reached, bad debts are minimized. Respond promptly and courteously to both external and internal requests. Educates customers on meeting payment terms and various payment options to achive the budgeted collection ratio. Reviews and updates account daily including placing accounts on hold, releasing orders, maintaining collection notes and aged balances. Escalates issues with the appropriate business unit and designated sales representatives.
• Liaises with sales, customer service and order desk departments and customers to identify and resolve problem areas. Communicate precise information to customer relating to their account status, handles customer complaints and facilitate conflict resolution.
• Reconciles, follows up, and resolves outstanding issues, items, or discrepancies. Review aging reports and provides updates as required. Escalate uncollectable items. Provides support to other team members in the event of absence. Performs other related duties and ad-hoc requests as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Community College diploma in Business Management or Accounting, or acceptable equivalent.
• Minimum 1 to 2 years related work experience. More experience required with less formal education.
• Working knowledge of SAP, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to research and investigate customer account issues, and monitors accounts as appropriate, depending on investigated circumstances, monitors and controls non-payments, delayed payments, and other anomalies.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and develop relationships with internal and external customers to resolve disputes and outstanding issues.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time.

Nice-to-Haves:

• Enrollment in Credit Institute of Canada and working towards CCP certification would be an asset.
• Bilingualism preferred (English and French)
