ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our interdisciplinary psychiatric services team dedicated to comprehensive mental health care. As a Registered Nurse, you will collaborate with psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists, and other physicians to conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and support medication management. This service is designed to complement primary care clinicians and focuses on patient-centered care where clients are welcome to bring a support person to their appointments.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Certificate of Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses (CNO)
• Knowledge, skills, and experience in: community assessment, psychosocial treatment and rehabilitation crisis management and recovery
• Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing

Skills/Abilities:

• Proven leadership abilities and team coordination skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Advanced communication skills, both written and interpersonal, with the ability to foster therapeutic relationships
• Evidence of continuing professional development experience
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric illnesses, treatment approaches, and relevant legislation (MHA, HCCA, OH&S, PHIPA)

• Understanding of Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR), recovery principles, least restraint practices, and the safe use of safety devices

• Familiarity with nursing practice standards, professional guidelines, and evidence-based practices in serious mental illness

• Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of an interprofessional team
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)  where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions..
