Reporting to the Director of Planning and Development Services, the Planner, Community Planning is responsible for administering and implementing the Town's land use planning and development framework. As a key member of the Planning and Development Services team, you will:
- Review and process development permit and other statutory planning applications.
- Administer and interpret the Town's Land Use Bylaw and planning policies.
- Provide professional planning advice to residents, developers, businesses, Council, and administration.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the Development Authority, Subdivision Authority, Committees, and Council.
- Assist with statutory planning initiatives, policy development, and Land Use Bylaw updates.
- Coordinate public consultation and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Support community growth initiatives that advance Council priorities and long-term community development objectives.

Your educational background includes a degree in Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Community Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
Membership, or eligibility for membership, with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) is considered a strong asset. Your experience includes:
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning, development services, land use planning, or a related field.
- Experience reviewing development permits, subdivision applications, and planning-related approvals.
- Experience preparing reports and recommendations for senior leadership, boards, committees, or Council.
- Knowledge of Alberta planning legislation, including the Municipal Government Act and land use planning processes.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
