Job Title: Social Performance Specialist 

Reporting to the Social Performance Manager, the Social Performance Specialist plays a critical role in implementing Skeena’s Social Management System (SMS) and advancing the company’s social performance commitments. This role supports meaningful, respectful, and transparent collaboration with Indigenous Governments, organizations, and local communities, while ensuring consistent engagement, compliance, and reporting across the organization. Working closely with cross‑departmental teams, this position strengthens relationship‑building, knowledge sharing, and the long‑term success of Skeena and the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project. 

Responsibilities: 

Management Plan Tracking & Integration 

• Maintain a comprehensive register of all Social Affairs management plans, including commitments, regulatory obligations, deliverables, and deadlines. 

• Drive implementation of Social Affairs management plans to ensure alignment with Skeena’s SMS and corporate commitments. 

• Monitor updates to plans, identify required actions, and communicate expectations to operational teams. 

• Facilitate cross‑functional coordination across corporate, site, and community‑facing teams to ensure consistent application of social management practices. 

• Identify upcoming obligations and evidence requirements, ensuring teams are prepared for compliance and documentation needs. 

Regulatory & Indigenous Governance Compliance 

• Uphold accurate compliance records and systems for all applicable provincial, federal, and Indigenous agreement requirements, including MAC TSM, IFC, and the Equator Principles. 

• Monitor, interpret, and communicate updates to regulatory and Indigenous partnerships related to social performance and community meetings/dialogue. 

• Align internal reviews and audits of compliance obligations, identify risks or emerging expectations, and lead the development and implementation of corrective actions. 

• Lead development and implementation of corrective actions to maintain compliance and continuous improvement. 

Community and Strategic Relations

• Coordinate and support engagement with Indigenous Governments, community partners, and stakeholders. 

• Prepare content for internal and external communications related to social performance and engagement. 

• Collaborate with Indigenous Nations to apply wise practices for tracking, analyzing, and summarizing community feedback. 

• Support development of responses, mitigation strategies, and reporting aligned with community expectations. 

• Ensure engagement activities align with commitments in management plans, regulatory requirements, and agreements (e.g., TCG, IFC, EP4). 

• Build and maintain positive relationships with project managers, consultants, agencies, and partners to strengthen engagement and information flow. 

Reporting, Monitoring & Performance Measurement 

• Support alignment and compliance with global ESG frameworks, including IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles (EP4), ICMM, and MAC‑TSM. 

• Prepare compliance summaries, dashboards, and internal materials to support informed decision‑making. 

• Conduct data analysis and identify trends to enhance accuracy and insight in social performance reporting. 

• Coordinate ESG reporting for internal stakeholders, Indigenous partners, and investor requirements. 

• Support continuous improvement of the SMS by integrating lessons learned and community input. 

Project Support & Administration 

• Assist with management of Social Performance projects and deliverables, tracking progress against scope, schedule, and budget. 

• Coordinate across departments to ensure timely action on commitments, information requests, and follow‑up tasks. 

• Support document control and organization of materials required for audits, engagement activities, and meetings. 

• Maintain complete, accurate, and organized project documentation and evidence.

The Ideal Candidate 

Education / Qualifications: 

• Post‑secondary education in communications, public relations, environmental planning, Indigenous studies, social sciences, sustainability, or a related discipline preferred.

• IAP2 certification, or working towards completion, is considered an asset. 

• Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License 

Experience / Skills

• 5+ years of experience in social performance, strategic communications, and community or stakeholder engagement, ideally within the resource, energy, or industrial sector. 

• Proven ability to implement and operationalize social management systems, compliance processes, frameworks, and strategies that meet organizational and regulatory objectives. 

• Experience with tracking systems software, ESG Reporting, KPI dashboards, and data analysis for trend monitoring 

• Strong understanding of social impact assessment, community relations, and sustainability practices, with the ability to integrate social considerations into project planning and execution. 

• Demonstrated experience in supporting development and execution of various strategies and compliance reporting across a range of stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, government agencies, and industry partners. 

• Experience supporting or mentoring junior team members and contributing to continuous improvement in social performance practices is an asset. 


• Highly detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality. 


• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and work independently when required. 

• Strong interpersonal and analytical reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities. 

• Willingness to travel as required. 

Other Information

Work Location & Conditions 

This role can be based at any of Skeena’s office locations (Smithers, Vancouver, Dease Lake) or work-from-home arrangements can be considered. The role operates in a fast-paced working environment requiring the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.

This position requires the incumbent to work away from home occasionally and to travel to different work locations or events outside of regular office hours, as well as to Skeena’s remote project sites, collaborating with internal and external parties. 

Compensation 

The expected salary range for this position is CAD 85,000-105,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles conducted in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines, and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined by several factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
