Position
Intermediate/Senior Dev Ops, Site Reliability (Linux) – full‑time, permanent position with a client in Vancouver.
Location & Hours
Hybrid – 2 days in the client’s downtown Vancouver office, 3 days remote.
Scope of Duties
- Ensure service reliability and uptime in production and test environments.
- Be on‑call and provide 3rd‑level troubleshooting support when required.
- Monitor uptime and performance of production systems.
- Execute common sysadmin tasks such as applying patches, generating reports, and some DB administration.
- Occasionally help improve tools to reduce repetitive work and improve consistency.
About you
- 3+ years of experience in production operations, SRE, or a similar role.
- Understanding of software systems concepts, including networking, firewalls, protocols, and databases.
Experience Required
- Linux (CentOS preferred), Bash, Maven/Gradle.
- Windows, PowerShell, NuGet.
- RDBMS and NoSQL databases such as MS SQL, Cassandra.
- CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.
- Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
- Containerization/virtualization technologies such as Docker, VMware or OpenShift/Kubernetes.
- Load‑balancing tools such as HA‑Proxy, Nginx or F5.
Assets
- Experience with Cassandra, Zookeeper, Hadoop, Kafka, MS SQL, or MongoDB.
- Experience leading or mentoring others.
- Understanding of software delivery practices such as feature toggling and no‑downtime deployment.
