Position Description

Mercer Celgar is seeking a dedicated Fibre Logistics Supervisor to join our team at Mercer Celgar in beautiful Castlegar British Columbia. Our pulp mill requires more than two million cubic metres of wood fibre annually. The successful candidate will seek to optimize the movement of this wood fibre to the pulp mill by working with our diverse contract transport fleet to find efficiencies in all forms of transport. This position will work closely with our Forestry Supervisor and Manager, Fibre Procurement to deliver fibre from the northern USA and southern British Columbia.

The successful candidate will oversee the logistics of fibre supply, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries to support our mill operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage and coordinate the supply chain for all fibre materials. This includes two key areas of focus.
• Residual wood chip hauls to the pulp mill from sawmills.
• Log hauls to the pulp mill and remote sites.
• Optimize two way hauling opportunities.
• Coordinate the outgoing haul of residual fibre from the pulp mill to consumers.
• Work with the operations team to improve unloading loop times for both log and chip deliveries on our mill site in Castlegar.
• Develop accurate cycle times for all hauls that consider seasonal variation.
• Optimize the transfer of stockpiled fibre from remote yards throughout Southern BC, Northern Idaho and Washington
• Ensure timely delivery of fibre to the mill.
• Budget and track costs as well as greenhouse gas emissions with a goal to be as efficient as possible and reduce our carbon footprint.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and transporters.
• Implement cost-saving strategies and optimize logistics processes

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience in logistics or supply chain management preferably in the forest industry
• A certificate or diploma in logistics or supply chain management is considered an asset.
• Designation with the CCIT or ASCM is considered an asset
• A Bachelor's Degree or diploma in Forestry is considered an asset
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook or Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) including Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Drive.
• Proficiency in Logistics Software like Trimble (LIMS) is a benefit.
• A Class 5 driver's license and the ability to travel into the USA.
• The ability to travel occasionally as required to meet with suppliers and transport contractors

Salary

• The salary for this position is $96,960 - 145,440. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
