MST (Atlantic) Shipping Management ULC is currently accepting resumes for the position below.

Position: Messman (Marine 2nd Cook)

Rotation: Five weeks on/off

Status: Permanent

Position Summary

This Messman is responsible for assisting in area areas of the galley as directed by the Chief Cook.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• Transport Canada Ship's Cook Certification
• Transport Canada STCW Basic Safety
• Transport Canada STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties
• Transport Canada Unlimited Medical Health Certificate
• Valid Passport
• Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background / Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

Responsibilities:

• Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.
• Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.
• Reporting to the Chief Cook for all duties.
• Maintaining a very high standard of personal hygiene and neatness.
• Washing and securing the dishes and utensils used by officers / ratings for ships with common messing rooms.
• Ensure a high standard of food safety and sanitation throughout the galley.
• Assisting in cleaning the kitchen area and cooking equipment under the supervision of the Chief Cook.
• Assisting the Chief Cook in the carrying, handling, transferring and storing of food and provisions.
• Assisting in disposing of garbage from the galley or kitchen as directed by the Chief Cook under the guidance of the officer on duty.
• Performing utility services to dependants aboard when directed by the Master.
