Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker - FIFO 14/14

Convergint is seeking a safety-focused and motivated

Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker to join our Maintenance team supporting industrial facilities in the Fort McMurray region at Suncor Base Plant. This position is responsible for the installation, repair, modification, and maintenance of sheet metal systems in a heavy industrial environment while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.

The successful candidate will be a team player with strong troubleshooting skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our customers.

This is a 14/14 rotating shift with accommodation provided for the duration of your shift.

Main Job Responsibilities

• Install, fabricate, modify, and repair sheet metal systems and components.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on roofing flashings, wall cladding, ductwork, louvers, curbs, and other sheet metal assemblies.
• Measure, cut, bend, and assemble sheet metal using hand and power tools.
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work orders.
• Inspect existing systems and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
• Install insulation, weatherproofing, and related materials where required.
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Work closely with HVAC Mechanics.
• Work safely at heights using approved fall protection equipment.
• Coordinate with other trades to complete maintenance and construction activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation of completed work.
• Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Alberta Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker Certificate (or recognized Interprovincial Red Seal).
• HVAC Experience considered an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
• BSO/CSO
• Fall Protection Certification is an asset.
• Aerial Work Platform (MEWP) certification is considered an asset.
• Confined Space Entry and H2S Alive are considered assets.
• Experience in industrial maintenance, oil sands, or heavy industrial facilities is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and access elevated work areas.
• Capable of standing, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
