Service Now Senior Developer - Discovery and Integrations

The Opportunity

Total Systems Solutions Consulting Inc. is seeking a Service Now Senior Technical Architect to work for our public sector client the Ministry of Citizen Services in the Province of British Columbia. You must be available to work hybrid, full-time 37.5 hours per week with availability Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm Pacific Standard Time . It is expected that consultants will be required to occasionally attend meeting in Victoria, British Columbia for which your expenses will be reimbursed .

The anticipated term of this opportunity is from an available start date of September 16, 2024 for 6 months

Project Context

The Service Management Transformation Program (SMTP) is a multi-year transformation of IT service management operations. The SMTP involves the implementation of the OCIO My Service Centre (My SC), a cloud-based IT service management tool powered by ServiceNow. My SC was launched for use by all ministries in January of 2019, with an initial set of OCIO Services and features.

Background

The mandate for SMTP focuses on transforming IT service operations to ensure a superior customer experience and contribute to the success of government programs. It also includes the integration of IT service management for shared government IT infrastructure and services. SMTP includes both project and operations work and the team is currently comprised of Ministry staff, resources contracted via previous RFP's, and the Province's vendor service delivery partners.

The Province is implementing various modules of ServiceNow, with several already in production which include:

• Incident Management
• Problem Management
• Change Management
• Knowledge Management
• Order Management (Service Request, Request for Fulfillment, Service Catalogue)
• Service Asset and Configuration Management and Configuration Management Database (SACM/CMDB)
• Hardware Asset Management (HAM)
• Software Asset Management (SAM)
• Field Services (FSM)
• Continuous Improvement (CIM)
• Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM)

The Province is seeking experienced ServiceNow Discovery and Integration specialist who will support the expansion of ServiceNow discovery, through either ServiceNow Discovery or integrations.

Consultant Qualifications

The Senior ServiceNow Developer specializing in Discovery, IT Operations Management (ITOM), and Integrations will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing robust solutions within the ServiceNow platform. This role requires a deep understanding of ServiceNow's capabilities, particularly in ITOM and Discovery, and the ability to integrate various systems seamlessly.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow development and administration:

• Extensive experience in configuring and customizing ServiceNow applications, with a focus on ITOM and Discovery.
• Proven track record of managing and delivering complex ServiceNow projects, from requirements gathering to deployment and support.

Expertise in ServiceNow Modules:

• In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow ITOM, including Event Management, Orchestration, and Operational Intelligence.
• Comprehensive experience with ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB health, and remediation rules.
• Proficiency in ITSM and other ServiceNow modules, with a strong understanding of their integration with ITOM.

Technical Skills

Advanced Development Skills:

• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, and other web development technologies essential for ServiceNow customization.
• Strong understanding of ServiceNow architecture, including the data model, security, and access control mechanisms.

Integration Expertise

• Extensive experience with ServiceNow integrations using REST, SOAP, and other integration technologies.
• Ability to design and implement complex integrations between ServiceNow and third[1]party systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation.

ServiceNow Discovery and ITOM

• Expertise in configuring and optimizing ServiceNow Discovery to ensure accurate and up-to-date information in the CMDB.
• Familiarity with the Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) and its role in maintaining CMDB data integrity.
• Experience in implementing and managing CMDB health dashboards, remediation workflows, and automating IT operations using ServiceNow ITOM.

Certifications

• ServiceNow Certified Application Developer.
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator.
• Additional ServiceNow certifications (e.g., ITOM, ITSM, Discovery) are highly desirable.
