Principal Data Architect

The Principal Data Architect will lead the design and implementation of complex, cloud‑based data solutions for our clients, driving strategic roadmaps and providing expert guidance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Define strategic roadmaps and targeted outcomes for clients in a consultative capacity.
• Act as a data engineering SME to shape engagements alongside pre‑sales teams.
• Conduct technical interviews for Architect and Engineer candidates.
• Provide technical guidance to Architects and Engineers.
• Oversee the development and implementation of data standards and operating procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in the AWS data landscape.
• Minimum 10 years designing and building complex data systems.
• Strong experience in:
  1. Traditional Data: Relational database design, optimization and migration; data modeling for transactional and analytics systems; implementation of industry standard data models; BI dashboards and visualizations; Data Governance and MDM.
  2. Recent Data: Big data processing with Spark, streaming solutions, and NoSQL; Machine Learning and MLOps (SageMaker, Bedrock, GenAI, foundational models).
  3. DataOps practices: Infrastructure as Code, data testing, data versioning, CI/CD pipelines.
  4. Python for analytics (numpy, pandas, matplotlib) and automation.
• Strong drive toward standardizing and documenting approaches and solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary: CAD $180,000 – $202,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
