The Opportunity

As the VP of Software Engineering at VoPay, you will lead and inspire our world-class engineering team to design, develop, and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions that drive our business forward. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our technology strategy, overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, and working hand-in-hand with our Product Development team to ensure the successful execution of VoPays product roadmap. You must be equally capable of diving arbitrarily deep when required and work directly with the teams on understanding their key technical challenges, and helping them to find a path forward.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategic Thinking

- Inspire, motivate and provide strategic direction and technical leadership to the software engineering team.- Support recruitment activities to expand the software engineering team, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.- Think strategically and translate business objectives into actionable technology plans.

Performance Management

- Establish and regularly evaluate performance objectives for the software engineering team, ensuring objectives are met.- Ensure that software development processes are optimised for efficiency and effectiveness.

Quality Assurance and Security

- Implement rigorous software testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and integrity of our software systems.- Implement robust security practices and protocols in collaboration with the information security team.

Technical Expertise

- Maintain a deep understanding of software development methodologies, architectures, and technologies, particularly in cloud-based platforms.- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to propose innovative solutions.

Collaboration

- Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to drive successful product launches and enhancements.- Communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences

Skills and Qualifications

- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams.- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Full Stack Developer, working on complex web applications.- Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js).- Solid experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, Ruby on Rails, PHP, or Java.- Extensive knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and serverless architecture is a plus.- Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a bonus.- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and version control systems (Git).- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $150,000.00-$175,000.00 per year
