Designer 1 Mens Run

Your opportunity at Arc’teryx:

As a Designer 1 - Men's Run, you provide support to a team of designers to deliver on product solutions that align with the Arc’teryx design philosophies and continuously exceed our guests’ evolving needs. In this highly technical role, you assist in the continued evolution of how we design and approach our Run apparel offerings, contributing to innovative, relevant and resolved outcomes that fit within our existing collections.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is expected to be performed on-site. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were in the Designer 1 – Men's Run role now, here are some of the core activities you would be responsible for:

• Supporting the team with notetaking and capturing key updates during raw materials development, fittings, and design stage gates/reviews


• Supporting senior design members and complimenting existing collections and/or product line plans by contributing to the execution of assigned projects within seasonal timelines


• Supporting and contributing to the creation of patterns, mock-ups, and prototypes; exploring, resolving, and proving new concepts and constructions techniques


• Supporting and contributing to detailed spec drawings, patterns, fit directions, and fabric information to initiate to product development


• Maintaining up to date product illustrations throughout the development process


• Supporting the Fit & Pattern team in resolving fit style and construction issues, ensuring a fully commercialised product


• Coordinating with the materials team in testing new materials, ensuring necessary items are available for prototyping


• Maintaining a thorough understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques that Arc’teryx works with


• Researching and creating design concepts through the entire design process (sketch, proto, pre-production, etc) under the guidance of the Senior Designer


• Maintaining up to date product illustrations throughout the development process


• Supporting with note taking and capturing key important takeaways during material development meetings and sketch process review meetings


• Ensuring all projects maintain clear and up to date documentation


• Supporting the team in scheduling flow for development stages and continuously charting line plan progress


• Partnering with Product Development on cost estimates, MOQs and LOM concerns throughout concepting and prototyping for seasonal products


• Staying up to date on evolving customer needs and industry trends by collaborating with Arc’teryx athletes and other industry representatives


• Facilitating shareback of work during product reviews and annual sales meeting

Here are some things you could be working on in the future:

• Owning and overseeing all aspects of model creation - from ethos, to plans, through to production, you could grow to oversee run products


• Partnering directly with athletes on product evolutions, feedback insights and relationship building

Are you our next Designer 1 – Men's Run?

• You have a degree in apparel design and 3+ years hands-on experience designing clothing and textile-based products


• You are technically proficient with 3 years’ experience using Adobe Suite, Digital pattern software, and/or CLO3D


• You are technically proficient with 3 years’ experience using Adobe Illustrator and Gerber or equivalent pattern software


• You have intermediate knowledge, skill and ability in design process, sewing and garment construction


• You have proven technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype new products


• You have the capability to create tools and construction methods to assist in solving construction issues


• You demonstrate initiative, agility, and commitment, while balancing autonomy and collaboration 


• You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity, and thrive in a fast paced, diverse, ever evolving and values led environment


• You have strong planning, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills


• You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right


• You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is CAD$71,000 - CAD$93,000

Most new team members join between the start and midpoint of the range, where you can contribute right away while continuing to grow your craft, your collaborations, and your impact at Arc’teryx. This range reflects market alignment and the scope of the role. Individual pay is determined by your skills, experience, and level of responsibility.
