Skye Avenue Kitchen & Lounge is a sophisticated new dining and entertainment concept in the heart of Surrey’s rapidly expanding business district. Located among new universities, government offices and residential developments, Skye Avenue offers a unique upscale experience featuring one of the world’s largest whisky collections, a private dining room, two chef’s tables, main bar, private whisky & cognac lounge and patio.

We are looking for an energetic, polished and guest-focused Host/Hostess to be the first point of contact for our guests and help create an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive.

THE ROLE

As a Host/Hostess, you will set the tone for the guest experience. You will warmly welcome guests, manage reservations and seating, coordinate with the service team and ensure the restaurant operates smoothly during busy periods.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Warmly welcome and professionally engage every guest upon arrival and departure
• Manage guest seating and table rotation to maximize the guest experience and restaurant flow
• Manage reservations, waitlists and guest requests using OpenTable
• Maintain accurate knowledge of restaurant layout, dining areas, chef’s tables, private dining and lounge offerings
• Answer guest questions about menus, food and beverage offerings, events and restaurant amenities
• Communicate effectively with servers, management and kitchen staff regarding guest needs and special requests
• Recognize returning guests and provide personalized service whenever possible
• Assist with managing guest wait times and communicate estimated seating times accurately
• Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when appropriate
• Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming host stand and entrance area
• Assist the team with opening, closing and other restaurant duties as required
• Maintain strong knowledge of the surrounding Surrey area, including local attractions, hotels, businesses and amenities

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Previous experience as a Host/Hostess, Guest Services, Restaurant, Hotel or Customer Service professional is an asset
• Experience in an upscale or high-volume hospitality environment is preferred
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional, confident and welcoming personality
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to remain calm, organized and professional during busy service periods
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable using POS, reservation and computer systems; OpenTable experience is an asset
• Excellent command of spoken English; additional languages are an asset
• Professional appearance and strong personal presentation
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the position
