ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Eastern Rural Zone invites applications for a permanent full-time Obstetrician/Gynecologist within the Child and Women's Health Program at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, NL.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with family physicians and other specialists to provide a multidisciplinary approach to patients in clinic settings, consultations, inpatient care, surgical services, and on-call coverage. Outpatient assessments take place at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital and 5 Coish Place, with space shared with other specialists. Consultations from the Emergency Department, family medicine community physicians, and other primary health care providers can be expected. On-call including holidays and weekends is shared equitably among site Obstetricians/Gynecologists.

Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital provides services to a catchment area of approximately 20,000 people. The hospital has 41 acute care beds including palliative care, medical/surgical, obstetrics, pediatric, and ICU beds, as well as 9 ER beds and 44 long-term care beds. Services include anesthesia, chemotherapy, family practice, general surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, ICU/Cardiac, internal medicine, laboratory, palliative care, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, respiratory therapy, ultrasonography, and 24-hour emergency (Category A). Visiting clinics include neurology and ophthalmology.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Degree (MD) with specialist training
• Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (or equivalent)
• Eligible for and maintain licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (
• Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology services including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and surgical services
• Participate in outpatient assessments at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital and 5 Coish Place
• Receive and manage consultations from the Emergency Department, family medicine community physicians, and other primary health care providers
• Participate in on-call coverage shared equitably among site Obstetricians/Gynecologists including weekends and holidays
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Child and Women's Health team
• Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

As per Memorandum of Agreement

Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador, commensurate with level of experience. On-call is billable to the Medical Care Plan (MCP).
