Reporting to:  Manager, Discover Parks Ambassadors  

Dates:  May 20to August 27 , 2026 

Schedule:  Full time seasonal; 35 hours/week (5 days on/2 days off);

9 :00 am-4:30pm (4 days/week); 1 :00 pm-8:30pm (1 day/week)
Job Location: Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park and Nature House (4 days / week ) 
Englishman River Falls Provincial Park (1 day / week) 

Purpose:  To excite, engage and educate park visitors

Role Description:  

Discover Parks Ambassadors work in provincial parks across BC to create amazing experiences that inspire, educate, and empower people to appreciate, enjoy, and care for British Columbia's parks and protected places. We are  seeking energetic, motivated individuals with a deep respect for the natural environment to deliver educational experiences in Rathtrevor Beach and Englishman River Falls Provincial Park s , ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience.  Ambassadors working in Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park are also responsible for the daily operation of the Nature House. The Nature House has the reputation of being a welcoming and educational space with opportunities for park visitors to support conservation education through donations.  

What does a typical day look like?   

While in parks, daily tasks include program promotion, delivering programs, engaging with visitors, operating the Rathtrevor Beach Nature House, program planning, and collecting and reporting program metrics. You will always be interacting with visitors, sharing insights about the park’s biodiversity and inspiring environmental awareness. Your weekly schedule will include at least one weekend afternoon and evening shift to facilitate the much-loved evening educational amphitheatre programs. On your admin day, you will collaborate with your teammates to research program updates, plan for the upcoming week, clean and organize the Nature House, and  submit reports on program performance, supplies and equipment.   

Responsibilities:

• Interact and engage with park visitors  
  
  
  
  • Educate visitors on how to enjoy parks responsibly and promote programs through information booths and roving around the park
  
  
  • Run activities and games for children and families in parks, including the existing Jerry’s Rangers program

  • Present daytime and evening family-friendly interpretive programs in parks , including guided nature walks and presentations

  • Promote  iNaturalist   and other community science initiatives  
  
  

• Operate and maintain the Rathtrevor Beach Nature House
  
  
  
  • Greet visitors and initiate friendly conversations inside the Nature House
  
  
  • Provide guidance on exhibits and highlight key features (wildlife, ecology, etc.)
  
  
  • Learn and operate the POS system for donations
  
  
  • Keep exhibits and visitor areas clean and functional
  
  
  • Ensure building cleanliness as part of daily operations

Requirements:  

• A love of the environment and the outdoors  

• Comfortable making presentations, talking to visitors, and leading tours   

• Enjoy interacting with large crowds and having lots of conversations (100+ per day in some parks) 

• Experience working or volunteering with children   

• Ability to work in a remote environment, while staying connected with  a team online  

• Ability to lift and move program equipment (up to 30lbs) 

• Ability to stay on your feet for extended periods of time and work in all types of weather conditions  

• Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for accessing the parks and moving program equipment (preference for a vehicle that can transport a 6ft collapsible tent) 

• Personal computer with video conferencing capabilities and strong internet connection  

• Personal mobile phone  

• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (will be completed during the hiring process)  

Skills and Experience Considered an Asset:  

• Post-secondary study in environmental sciences , natural resource management,  conservation or education


• Fluency in additional languages  

• Standard first aid certification or higher

Canada Summer Jobs Funding Eligibility:  

As a condition of pending Canada Summer Jobs program funding, to be eligible for funding you will need to be:  

• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment  

• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment  

• have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada and BC
