Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

About Mecka AI

Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI.
We design and operate global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI labs and robotics companies to train and validate humanoid and embodied AI systems.
We work closely with frontier robotics teams to bridge real-world data, simulation, learning-based systems, and deployed hardware.

The Role

Every video frame we capture, label, and deliver to customers moves through AWS infrastructure this team builds and runs. We're hiring a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to help design, scale, and harden Mecka's AWS environment, with a focus on the networking and storage behind global data ingestion and customer delivery. You'll join the Platform Engineering & Infrastructure team as a senior individual contributor, take the lead on key projects, and work closely with the ML, computer vision, and data teams who depend on this infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and operate core parts of Mecka's AWS environment (networking, storage, and IAM) alongside the rest of the infrastructure team

• Build and maintain our network: VPCs, subnets, routing, Transit Gateway, VPN/Direct Connect, DNS, and load balancing, so capture sites, internal teams, and customers can reliably move data in and out

• Implement and tune the storage layer for petabyte-scale video and sensor data on S3 and related services, including bucket design, lifecycle and tiering, replication, and access patterns built for throughput and retrieval cost

• Improve the speed and predictability of data transfer, from ingestion out of capture sites to large dataset deliveries to customers

• Manage infrastructure as code (Terraform or equivalent) through CI/CD, keeping changes reviewable, repeatable, and easy for other engineers to use

• Contribute to reliability for the infrastructure layer through monitoring, alerting, on-call, incident response, and postmortems that lead to real fixes

• Find and deliver cost savings in storage and data transfer, contribute to design reviews, and mentor other engineers on the team

What You Bring

Must-have:

• 6+ years in infrastructure, platform, or cloud engineering, including building and operating production AWS environments at meaningful scale

• Deep AWS networking expertise: VPC design, routing, Transit Gateway or peering, VPN/Direct Connect, DNS (Route 53), load balancing, and troubleshooting connectivity across environments

• Hands-on experience designing and operating large-scale storage on AWS (S3 at scale, lifecycle policies, storage classes, replication, performance tuning)

• Strong infrastructure-as-code practice (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD ownership

• Solid IAM and security fundamentals: least-privilege access, encryption, network segmentation, and audit readiness

• Proficiency in at least one language for automation and tooling (Python, Go, or similar)

Nice-to-have:

• Experience moving large volumes of data: high-throughput transfer, multi-region replication, or bulk ingest/export (e.g., DataSync, Snowball, S3 Transfer Acceleration)

• Experience with hybrid or edge networking, connecting physical sites or hardware to the cloud

• Kubernetes/EKS or container platform experience

• Familiarity with GPU compute or data processing workloads on AWS

• Experience with compliance requirements for customer data (data residency, PII handling, SOC 2)

• AWS certifications (Advanced Networking, Solutions Architect Professional) as a supporting signal, not a substitute for production experience

A Note on Applying

Studies show women and candidates from underrepresented groups often only apply when they meet 100% of the listed qualifications, while others apply after meeting 60%. If you don't check every box above but believe you can do the job, we encourage you to apply — we're looking for capability and trajectory, not a perfect checklist match.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive candidate experience. Should you require any accommodation whatsoever during the interview process, please inform us without any hesitation. Mecka is dedicated to ensuring equal treatment and opportunity in all phases of recruitment, selection, and employment, in compliance with employment law. Use of Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment

Mecka uses artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly to support administrative and efficiency-focused aspects of our recruitment process. This includes activities such as drafting job descriptions, generating interview questions, note-taking and recordings, and supporting sourcing and scheduling workflows. All candidate evaluations, interviews, and hiring decisions are made by members of the Mecka team. While AI tools may assist with screening and assessment, they do not replace human judgment in selection decisions. Our use of AI is intended to streamline routine tasks, improve consistency, and enhance the overall candidate experience. We are committed to upholding principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in all hiring activities. Mecka regularly reviews its recruitment practices to mitigate bias and to ensure alignment with applicable laws and evolving best practices.
