Human Services Counselor (3013)

JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time

SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual essential

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent provides support, guidance, and skills training to clients referred by the clinician, through individual or group interventions, to foster their recovery. They work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, significant others, and other involved services. Work is generally carried out in the client's living environment and may extend to their community network. The incumbent may also be asked to contribute to the center's other services, depending on operational needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma plus an additional human services program/course of over six months and up to one year or equivalent;
• Suicide Intervention (ASIST) course or obtain it according to the established timeline;
• Knowledge of community resources;
• Ability to develop and facilitate individual and group programs;
• Ability to build a relationship of trust;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
• Adaptability and good judgment;
• Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and appropriate insurance for transporting clients;
• Willingness to use one's own vehicle in the performance of duties;
• Willingness to travel within the designated area;
• Ability to work independently and as a team member;
• Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
• Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
• Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
• Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitalité Health Network.
