Hatch is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Student for our Technologies Group, located in our Mississauga head office, starting Spring 2027 for a 16-month co-op. If you have strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and understand innovation, we want to hear from you.

In addition to developing new technologies and selecting and installing equipment in greenfield projects, we help our clients to get the most from their existing assets by providing field support, rebuild repairs, and retrofits. As the successful candidate, you will:

• Directly apply and develop knowledge in mechanical design
• Perform finite element analysis on various furnace components and systems, including thermal analysis of cooling system elements;
• Co-ordinate designs with a multi-disciplinary team including structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and instrumentation and controls.
• Contribute to the design and improvement of various types of mechanical equipment and technologies, including copper coolers, electrode columns and furnace sealing equipment;
• Perform calculations for a variety of mechanical systems including machinery components, hydraulic systems, and cooling water systems;
• Become familiar in reviewing fabrication and construction drawings; and
• Improve technical communication and report writing skills

You bring to the role: 

• Must be 3rd or 4th year in  a Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited university
• Demonstrate strong academic performance;
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills;
• Have an aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams; and
• Enjoy taking on new challenges with a commitment to achieving engineering excellence.
• Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community

Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):

• Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects
• Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges

Compensation:

Range: $25.00 - $33.00

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
