About the Role
Our client, a leading venture capital firm specializing in sports technology investments, is seeking a forward-thinking and highly experienced Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) . This is a fully remote position, allowing you to drive innovation from anywhere. You will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and nurturing groundbreaking technologies and startups within the sports ecosystem. Your role will involve scouting emerging trends, fostering partnerships, and guiding the strategic direction of our investment portfolio to ensure long-term growth and market leadership. If you have a deep understanding of the sports technology landscape, a passion for innovation, and a proven ability to identify and capitalize on future opportunities, this is an exceptional opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the firm's innovation strategy, focusing on identifying and investing in disruptive sports technologies.
- Scout for emerging technologies, startups, and innovative business models within the global sports industry.
- Evaluate investment opportunities based on technological potential, market fit, and strategic alignment.
- Foster strong relationships with entrepreneurs, researchers, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to portfolio companies to accelerate their growth and innovation.
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and technological advancements to anticipate future opportunities and challenges.
- Identify potential M&A targets and partnership opportunities for the firm and its portfolio companies.
- Develop and manage innovation programs, challenges, and incubators.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, events, and networking opportunities.
- Contribute to thought leadership through articles, presentations, and internal knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in innovation management, venture capital, strategic partnerships, or technology development, with a strong focus on the sports industry.
- Proven track record of identifying, evaluating, and successfully investing in new technologies or startups.
- Deep understanding of emerging technologies (AI, VR/AR, blockchain, IoT) and their application in sports.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, business acumen, and market analysis skills.
- Strong network within the sports technology and venture capital communities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex projects in a remote environment.
- Demonstrated experience in fostering collaboration and driving innovation.
- Master's degree in Business, Technology Management, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or Ph.D. is a plus.
