Job Summary

S&P Dow Jones Indices seeks a highly experienced Lead Software Engineer to develop and maintain Fixed Income platforms. The role involves building scalable, reliable, auditable financial applications, evaluating emerging technologies, leading system design, and ensuring high‑quality delivery.

The Team

Focus on robust calculation engines for fixed‑income indices, with a product‑first mindset, Agile principles, and a commitment to modernizing the technology stack.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high‑performance calculation engines and services for fixed‑income indices.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement scalable, reliable solutions supporting critical business operations.
  • Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture discussions, and establishing best practices.
  • Work within Agile development cycles to deliver features enhancing the platform.
  • Mentor junior developers, fostering technical growth.
  • Lead initiatives to modernize existing systems and adopt new technologies to improve performance.
  • Architect and oversee calculation engines and analytics services, balancing latency, throughput, cost, and accuracy.
  • Implement end‑to‑end data lineage, reconciliation, anomaly detection, reproducibility, auditability, and version control across analytics models and data.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and quantitative developers.
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI‑driven solutions and machine learning models for data processing and advanced analytics.
  • Operate with high autonomy, quickly ramping up on complex domains and new technologies.

Basic Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of software development experience using Java, Python, or Scala.
  • Strong background in distributed systems and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
  • Proven expertise in fixed‑income system design and analytics.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and product lifecycle.
  • Deep proficiency with AWS for scalable distributed systems and microservices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, learn complex systems rapidly, and lead greenfield platform buildouts.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, fixed‑income securities, indices, or calculation engines.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms and DevOps practices (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Familiarity with performance optimization and high‑frequency data processing.
  • Experience with AI‑augmented software engineering practices and AI coding assistants.
