Duration: 3 months (90 days)

The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Manager of Accounting, the Casual Finance Support Clerk will provide support to Financial Services team to support the delivery of financial services to the City.
Job Duties
Financial Support Services
Assist with data entry & maintenance by recording financial transactions, updating spreadsheets, and maintaining organized financial records
Assist with reconciliations on assigned general ledger accounts and prepare any required entries for review.
Assist with tracking, reconciling, and processing daily deposits from other departments.
Assist with processing NSF payments and collection letters to customer, as assigned.
Assist with preparing required government reports, claims, and returns for review, as assigned.
Assist with providing financial analysis by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Provide support to the finance team members (Tax Clerk, Accounting Clerk, Finance Clerk, & Utility Clerk).
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 Education or equivalent
Enrolled in a Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma program with a focus in Accounting or Business Administration from a recognized college/university.
Proficient in using Microsoft office programs specifically Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as proficient in researching information on the internet.
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. This includes the ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
Demonstrated strong organizational and time-management skills and the capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, responding with flexibility to changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to details.
Must be bondable.
Physically able to perform the clerical aspects or physical duties associated with the position.
Comments
This is a Casual Unionized position open to all applicants. Work performed in this position is applicable to union dues but is not entitled to any other benefits or entitlements under the Collective Agreement except for Article 24.
