Overview
The Manager, Procurement Operations is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily execution, process optimization, and scaling of Lightspeed's global Procurement Operations function. This role partners with Finance leadership to ensure spend visibility, budgetary controls, and financial governance across the organization, and will build, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of specialists, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of Procurement Operations specialists, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee team workload, set clear performance objectives, and manage resource allocation to ensure high‑quality delivery of procurement services and process efficiency.
- Drive team engagement and professional growth, serving as an advocate for the team within the broader organization.
- Support the execution and refinement of the procurement operating model, including intake, approvals, purchasing, and vendor onboarding processes.
- Lead the optimization and administration of procurement systems (for example, Astra, Coupa, Ironclad), ensuring seamless workflows and strong user experience.
- Implement and administer procurement policies, governance frameworks, and approval structures in alignment with organizational requirements.
- Drive process improvements to reduce cycle times, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve stakeholder experience.
- Participate in Lightspeed’s Vendor Management program.
- Establish and maintain procurement analytics and reporting, providing insights into spend, cycle times, savings, and operational performance.
- Partner with Finance leadership to manage spend visibility, ensure robust budget controls, and drive accurate PO processes and financial governance.
- Lead cross‑functional alignment with Finance and Accounts Payable to standardize invoicing procedures, ensuring accurate PO referencing and timely budgetary reconciliation.
- Lead initiatives to improve data quality, visibility, and reporting accuracy across procurement systems.
- Lead audit, SOX, and compliance reporting by ensuring strong documentation and process adherence.
- Drive enablement across the organization through training, documentation, and stakeholder education.
Other responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline procurement processes through technology and tooling enhancements.
- Support cross‑functional initiatives related to contractor onboarding, vendor lifecycle management, and procurement transformation.
- Act as a key partner to Procurement leadership in shaping the future operating model.
- Advocate for the Procurement team and increase visibility within the broader Finance and Operations organizations.
What you need to bring
- 5–7+ years of experience in Procurement Operations, Procurement, or related roles.
- 1–3+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity, with a track record of coaching and developing junior to mid‑level talent.
- Proven ability to manage a team's workflow in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
- Strong experience with procurement systems (Astra, Coupa, Ironclad, or similar tools).
- Experience designing and optimizing procurement processes and operating models.
- Extensive experience working with Finance, Legal, IT, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Fluency in English as a working language is required for this position.
