Ingénieur(e) électronique principal(e) / Hardware Lead Engineer
Eaton Corporation
Eaton’s Power Reliability division is currently seeking a motivated senior electronic engineer to join the Utility Intelligent Devices Engineering team based in Lévis, Québec. The role offers hybrid work options and benefits from day one.
La fourchette salariale annuelle prévue pour ce poste est de 93 000 $ à 117 000$.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end electronic hardware architecture, design, and verification for embedded products (examples include digital/analog, power, high-speed interfaces such as PCIe / USB / Ethernet, microcontrollers/microprocessors and FPGA, PMICs, low-speed interfaces such as SPI / I2C / UART, etc.), from requirements through validation and production release.
- Lead hardware requirements flow down, design tradeoffs justification, derating, simulation/analysis, design reviews and DfX (DFM/DFA/DFT).
- Champion product compliance/readiness for utility environments.
- Collaborate with firmware/software, systems, marketing, test, manufacturing/quality, product and supply chain teams to ensure platform reuse, manufacturability, robust V&V plan, and sustaining viability across product lifecycles.
- Develop tests for board bring-up and design verification, document test plan, test criteria and conduct tests for circuitry design.
- Proficient with standard (Oscilloscope, multimeter, power supply, waveform generator) and advanced (electrostatic discharge gun, fast transient generator, surge generator, HiPot tester) electronic measurement tools.
- Troubleshoot system issues during development projects and throughout the product lifecycle.
- Understand logic/digital circuit architecture (RESET sequences, high-speed communication interfaces, integration of HW and FW) and common timing/integrity challenges encountered in such circumstances.
- Mentor/lead team made of senior and junior engineers as well as technicians; facilitate communities of practice and guide technical reviews. Align behaviors to the Eaton Leadership Model (ELM).
Qualifications
- Member of Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec with full exercice rights.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronic engineering or similar program from an accredited institution.

- Legally authorized to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to independently design, in accordance with industry best practices, systems based on high-speed communication interfaces (including PCIe Gen3, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, SATA, LVDS) and low-speed interfaces (including UART, I2C, SPI, MDIO).
- Skilled in diagnosing complex electronic issues using standard and advanced measurement tools (including power-up sequences, power trees, mixed-domain circuits, isolated interfaces, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience and autonomy in computer-aided electronic design (Altium Designer, LTspice, PSpice, etc.).
- Good understanding of quality-driven product development tools (DFSS, Design for Six Sigma).
- Familiar with the constraints and nuances involved in bringing an electronic product into mass production, including functional testing, compliance testing, and individual board-level testing (ICT).
Skills
- Demonstrated analytical expertise and advanced problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, complemented by the ability to convey complex concepts through effective storytelling.
- Proficient in strategic planning and critical thinking.
- Capable of working autonomously and efficiently managing competing priorities within a Scrum or Kanban framework.
