Job Description
AECOM is searching for a Municipal Engineer to be based in our Yellowknife, NWT office for our Water team. The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology, the design and construction of municipal infrastructure and is familiar with conveyance design. You will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. You will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. You will be supporting in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal storm water, water and wastewater sector.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities
- Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
- Prepare construction cost estimates
- Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
- Perform constructability reviews, contract administration, construction inspections
- Familiarity with hydraulic models including for green infrastructure
- Assistance with proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, and scheduling
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
- 4+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in hydraulic modelling, planning, design construction inspection, contract administration
- Eligible for registration as a P.Eng with NAPEG or within 6 months of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of experience with civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, planning, design construction inspection, contract administration
- Training and experience in project management
- Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
- Working knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment, including both gravity and pressurized systems
- Familiarity with Hydraulic Modelling platforms
- Working knowledge of blue and green infrastructure: ponds, wetlands, bioswales, raingardens, etc.
- Excellent written skills needed for technical reports
- Valid NT Driver's License and access to a vehicle
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
- Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
