Lab Technician

The Lab Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and overall efficiency of the metallurgical laboratory. This role involves preparing material samples using furnaces and lathes, followed by daily analysis with a spectrometer to ensure accurate and reliable results. The successful candidate will also be responsible for calibrating laboratory equipment, performing routine inspections and maintenance, and ensuring all instruments operate at peak performance while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Hours Of Work

Monday to Friday - 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M

Compensation: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00

Key Responsibilities

• Preform Daily Analysis

• Prepare spectrographic samples for analysis using a furnace and lathe
• Complete spectrographic analysis of the samples and determine grade of material

• Operate and maintain lab equipment
• Daily calibration and verification of equipment
• Equipment preventative maintenance to ensure proper operation of the lab.
• Data management and record keeping
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance for all lab equipment (furnace, lathe and spectrometer)
• Assist with process related problems to improve quality of material
• Make recommendations for improved lab functions

Qualifications

• College certificate in metallurgy or related field
• 1-2 years working in similar environment
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to present findings in a way that's useful to non-technical audience
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to effectively manage multiple deadlines
• Curious and self-motivated, willing to ask questions, learn industry concepts, and grow into more complex work overtime
