Help shape the future of transportation in Canada by becoming Alto's Legal Counsel focused on Indigenous relations. This role demands a blend of legal expertise and a passion for community engagement. You will be an integral part of Alto's commitment to partner with Indigenous communities while facilitating legal compliance across different projects from one of our offices in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, or Ottawa. Your background in Indigenous and constitutional law will be crucial as you draft agreements and advise on the implications of Indigenous rights and structures affecting project developments. Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in drafting project agreements with Indigenous communities
- Provide legal guidance on treaty rights and claims
- Support internal teams on the Crown's duties
- Advise on applicable legal regimes for Indigenous lands
- Travel to strengthen partnerships with Indigenous communities
- Juris Doctor and Bar membership in Quebec or Ontario
- At least 5 years of legal practice in relevant areas
- Proven dedication toward reconciliation processes
- Understanding of Indigenous community economic contexts
- Outstanding negotiation and communication skills
