Women's Health Physician

Part-time

Stem Health, Inc

About Stem Health

Stem Health is reimagining the primary care experience for individuals who want a more thoughtful relationship with their health. Physician-led and membership-based, we combine medical excellence with the warmth of hospitality anchored in a beautifully designed flagship clinic at First Canadian Place, opening September 2026. Our care model is relationship-based, data-informed, and built on time, trust, and exceptional service.

Position Summary

Women's health is not a niche. It is a distinct clinical discipline one shaped by hormonal complexity, life stage transitions, and a history of being dismissed, under-researched, and under-treated at every turn. Stem Health is building a women's health program that takes that seriously: evidence-based, comprehensive, and grounded in the kind of physician relationship that gives women the time and the clinical depth their health actually demands.

We are looking for a physician with focused expertise in women's health to lead this program. You will deliver individualized, proactive care across the full spectrum of women's health hormonal and reproductive health, perimenopause and menopause management, sexual health, bone health, thyroid and metabolic health, cardiometabolic risk, pelvic health, and the psychological dimensions of women's wellbeing at every life stage. You will practice as an integrated member of Stem Health's clinical team, with access to advanced on-site diagnostics, a multidisciplinary team, and a membership of women who are engaged, high-functioning, and ready to be genuinely cared for.

Experience in executive healthcare, menopause medicine, or integrative women's health is a significant asset. This is a role for a physician who can hold the full complexity of a woman’s health clinically and humanly and who understands that the two are inseparable.

Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive women's health assessment

  • Conduct thorough, individualized women's health assessments integrating medical history, menstrual and reproductive history, hormonal status, sexual function, bone health, cardiometabolic risk, thyroid health, psychological wellbeing, and life stage context into a complete and current clinical picture.
  • Order and interpret a comprehensive women's health laboratory panel including estradiol, progesterone, FSH, LH, testosterone (total and free), SHBG, DHEA-S, AMH, thyroid panel (TSH, fT3, fT4, TPO antibodies), cortisol, fasting insulin, HbA1c, lipid fractionation, vitamin D, ferritin, CBC, and inflammatory markers tailored to each member's life stage and presenting concerns.
  • Integrate body composition data from DEXA scanning (lean mass, fat mass, visceral adipose tissue, bone mineral density) and resting metabolic rate into hormonal and metabolic health assessments recognizing the profound effects of estrogen, progesterone, and life stage transitions on body composition and metabolic rate.
  • Screen for and evaluate comorbidities that disproportionately affect women, including autoimmune thyroid disease, iron deficiency, PCOS, endometriosis, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease (with sex-specific risk factors), and mood disorders ensuring these are addressed as part of the integrated care plan.

Perimenopause, menopause, and hormone therapy

  • Diagnose and manage perimenopause and menopause using a rigorous, evidence-based clinical framework evaluating symptom burden, hormonal status, bone health, cardiovascular risk, cognitive symptoms, and quality of life as integrated dimensions of the menopausal transition.
  • Prescribe and manage menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) including estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone across appropriate delivery modalities (transdermal, oral, vaginal, topical) with individualized risk-benefit assessment, careful monitoring, and ongoing clinical review aligned with current SOGC, Menopause Society, and NICE guidelines.
  • Manage complex or high-risk MHT scenarios including premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), surgical menopause, early menopause, BRCA mutation carriers, and women with cardiovascular or thromboembolic risk factors applying evidence-based clinical judgment to individualize care appropriately.
  • Address the full symptom spectrum of perimenopause and menopause vasomotor symptoms, sleep disruption, cognitive changes (brain fog), mood instability, joint pain, genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), and sexual dysfunction with pharmacological, lifestyle, and integrative approaches.

Hormonal health across the life cycle

  • Evaluate and manage polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) comprehensively addressing insulin resistance, hyperandrogenism, menstrual irregularity, fertility implications, metabolic risk, and the long-term health consequences of untreated PCOS.
  • Diagnose and manage thyroid disorders as a foundational component of women's hormonal health — including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and subclinical thyroid dysfunction recognizing their disproportionate prevalence and impact in women.
  • Evaluate adrenal health, DHEA-S status, and cortisol dysregulation in the context of chronic stress, fatigue, mood changes, and hormonal imbalance applying evidence-based assessment and management within appropriate clinical boundaries.
  • Address androgen insufficiency in women including low testosterone contributing to reduced libido, fatigue, reduced muscle mass, and mood changes with appropriate diagnostic evaluation and, where indicated, evidence-based testosterone therapy for women.
  • Provide contraception counselling and management across the reproductive life stage evaluating hormonal and non-hormonal options in the context of each member's health history, preferences, and reproductive goals.

Sexual health and pelvic health

  • Evaluate and manage female sexual dysfunction including hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), arousal disorder, orgasmic dysfunction, dyspareunia, and vaginismus with a biopsychosocial approach that addresses hormonal, anatomical, psychological, and relational contributors.
  • Diagnose and manage genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) including vaginal dryness, atrophy, dyspareunia, and recurrent urinary tract infections with local and systemic estrogen therapy, vaginal moisturizers, and emerging non-hormonal options.
  • Evaluate pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse coordinating physiotherapy referral for pelvic floor rehabilitation and urological/gynaecological referral for surgical evaluation where appropriate.
  • Address vulvar dermatological conditions including lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, and chronic vulvar pain syndromes within the scope of a comprehensive women's health practice, with appropriate specialist co-management.

Bone health and osteoporosis

  • Interpret and apply DEXA bone mineral density results T-scores, Z-scores, bone mineral content, and FRAX fracture risk within the context of each member's hormonal status, life stage, calcium and vitamin D status, and clinical risk factors.
  • Develop and monitor individualized osteoporosis prevention and management plans incorporating evidence-based lifestyle interventions (weight-bearing exercise, calcium, vitamin D, fall prevention) alongside pharmacological therapy (bisphosphonates, denosumab, romosozumab) where clinically indicated per Osteoporosis Canada guidelines.
  • Recognize the profound protective role of estrogen in bone density and incorporate bone health monitoring as a core component of perimenopause and menopause management particularly in women with early or surgical menopause.

Cardiovascular and metabolic health

  • Apply a sex-specific lens to cardiovascular risk assessment recognizing female-specific risk factors including PCOS, adverse pregnancy outcomes (preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, preterm birth), premature menopause, autoimmune disease, and the cardiovascular consequences of estrogen deficiency.
  • Evaluate and manage metabolic health changes associated with the menopausal transition including visceral fat accumulation, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hypertension with lifestyle medicine and pharmacological approaches tailored to each member's metabolic profile.
  • Integrate RMR and body composition data into metabolic health programming, accounting for the significant reductions in resting metabolic rate and shifts in fat distribution that occur with estrogen decline.
  • Contribute to Stem Health's executive health and longevity programming integrating women's hormonal, cardiovascular, metabolic, bone, and cognitive health data into comprehensive preventive health assessments.

Mental health and psychological wellbeing

  • Screen for and address depression, anxiety, PMDD, and burnout as they present across the female life cycle recognizing the hormonal drivers of mood instability during perimenopause, the luteal phase, and postpartum periods, and the clinical interventions that address them most effectively.
  • Evaluate the bidirectional relationship between hormonal health, sleep quality, stress, and psychological wellbeing and integrate mental health support into the holistic women's health care plan.
  • Make warm, clinician-to-clinician referrals to Stem Health's mental health team when indicated, maintaining oversight of the member's integrated care.

Interdisciplinary collaboration and documentation

  • Work closely with Stem Health's primary care physicians, kinesiologist, care coordinator, and allied health team to ensure women's health findings and treatment plans are fully integrated into each member's Unified Health Story.
  • Collaborate with the kinesiologist on exercise prescriptions that account for hormonal status, bone density, body composition, menopausal stage, and cardiovascular fitness optimizing the synergy between hormone therapy, lifestyle modification, and physical training.
  • Document all assessments, prescriptions, laboratory results, monitoring data, and care plan updates accurately and promptly within the clinic's EHR platform.
  • Maintain full licensure in good standing with the CPSO and adhere to all applicable standards of practice, prescribing guidelines, and CME/MOC requirements relevant to women's health and hormone therapy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Medical degree (MD or equivalent) and full licensure in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) required.
  • Residency training in Family Medicine (CCFP), Internal Medicine (FRCPC), or Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRCSC); additional training or fellowship in menopause medicine, reproductive endocrinology, or integrative women's health is a significant asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience with a focused practice or demonstrated expertise in women's health, hormone therapy, or menopause medicine.
  • Clinical proficiency in menopausal hormone therapy including individualized prescribing across modalities, complex risk-benefit assessment, and structured monitoring per SOGC and Menopause Society guidelines.
  • Experience evaluating and managing PCOS, thyroid disorders, female sexual dysfunction, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause as core clinical competencies.
  • Familiarity with DEXA bone mineral density interpretation and evidence-based osteoporosis prevention and management per Osteoporosis Canada guidelines.
  • Ability to integrate body composition (DEXA) and metabolic data (RMR via Cosmed) into hormonal and metabolic health care planning.
  • Understanding of sex-specific cardiovascular risk factors and the cardiometabolic consequences of hormonal transitions in women.
  • Experience in executive healthcare, concierge medicine, or private clinic practice is a significant asset.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills able to create the conditions in which women feel genuinely heard, respected, and clinically well-served.
  • Current CMPA professional liability coverage required.

Ideal Candidate

You understand that women's health is a specialty in its own right not an afterthought of general medicine — and you have built your practice accordingly. You are as comfortable reviewing an estradiol panel, a DEXA bone density report, and a FRAX score as you are sitting with a member in perimenopause who is trying to understand why she no longer feels like herself. You prescribe with precision, advocate with conviction, and practice with the kind of warmth and intellectual honesty that makes women trust you with the things they have never said to a doctor before. You want to build something that reflects that standard.

Why Join Stem Health

  • Build and lead Stem Health's women's health program from the ground up with the clinical infrastructure, diagnostics, and interdisciplinary team to do it the right way.
  • Practice at a physician-led, membership-based clinic at First Canadian Place founding team, opening September 2026 with a motivated, health-engaged female membership and the time to care for them well.
  • Unhurried appointments, a managed panel, and a Unified Health Story that connects your hormonal, metabolic, bone, and psychological health work to every other dimension of each member's care.
  • A collaborative multidisciplinary team primary care physicians, kinesiologist, mental health clinicians, and allied health providers who treat women's health as a clinical and strategic priority.
  • Competitive compensation in a part-time or contract model designed to fit around your broader clinical practice.
