Title: Community Health Practice Consultant

Salary: $102,490 - $125.736 per year (pay range explained below)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: West Kelowna or Kamloops, BC, located on the unceded ancestral territories of the Syilx or Secwépemc Nations – Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy.

About The Role

As a Community Health Practice Consultant, you will provide expert education, mentorship, and consultation to nurses delivering health services in First Nations communities across British Columbia. You will provide guidance to nursing practice, while also supporting community nurses in their development and implementation of community-based nursing programs. Drawing on hands-on experience in areas such as Community Health Nursing or Home and Community Care, you’ll display strong problem-solving skills and offer practical and culturally informed solutions to the unique challenges of nursing in remote and self-directed environments.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have/be...

Education, Registration, and Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Eligibility or current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
• Current CPR course for Health Care Providers (HCP).
• Current certification in BCCDC Immunization Competency Program is an asset

Experience

• Ideally the candidate will have a minimum of 5 years nursing experience with at least 3 years working as a nurse in a First Nations community.
• Experience in community/public health nursing providing clinical practice support and education to nurses.

Knowledge/Abilities

• Deep understanding of First Nations cultural principles, protocols, and traditional healing practices, with the ability to apply them in clinical settings.
• Strong knowledge of community and public health models, including home care practices such as case management, wound care, and palliative care.
• Provide clinical practice support, resources, and consultation to nurses and health directors, using a strength-based approach grounded in cultural safety, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practice.
• Effective critical thinking and working autonomously is essential.

The Pay Range is the minimum (Step 1) and maximum (highest Step) annual base salary based on full time equivalent hours.
