Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized Legal Assistant with minimum two or more years experience (preferably in Litigation or Corporate) who thrives working independently to support our legal team. The successful candidate will support key work output such as casefile management, document preparation, and client-communication to contribute to efficient day-to-day operations within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize case files using Clio, Microsoft Suite, and other document management systems.
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents, correspondence, and reports with high accuracy.
- Data entry and maintaining accurate records of case information, filings, and client details.
- Support attorneys with administrative tasks including filing, scheduling appointments, and maintaining calendars.
- Manage client communications professionally, demonstrating excellent personal etiquette.
Qualifications
- Minimum two or more years experience in a law firm.
- Direct experience in Litigation or Corporate strongly preferred.
- Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent experience.
- Solid knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- CORES Level 1 certified an asset, but not required.
- Experience in Litigation, Corporate, Real Estate, or Wills & Estates an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Clio an asset.
- Experience in Alberta-specific legal procedures.
