Job Responsibility:
Overview VBKOM a 17-year-old global mining consultancy with extensive experience across diverse projects, commodities, operations, and clients. Through our offices in Toronto and Sudbury, we're expanding our North American presence, offering specialized open-pit mining services and unparalleled expertise in ultra-deep underground mining. Duties & Responsibilities
- Performing technical mining engineering tasks and outputs on an expert level
- Periodic travel to client sites to perform project work
- Block model manipulation
- Strategic mine design, scheduling, and reporting
- Mining-related inputs for financial modelling
- Pit/stope optimization
- Building service offering toolkits and competency
- Equipment studies
- Lead and own projects + multiple project involvement
- Operating cost models
- Technical Report and CPR compilation
- Trade-off studies / Options analysis
- Cut-off grade analysis
- Business development - client engagement and sales
Desired Qualification & Experience
- Mining Engineering degree
- >6 years but <10 years
- Mandatory: relevant operations mining (>2 years) and mine planning/consulting experience (>2 years)
- Beneficial: having both Open Pit and Underground experience
- Professional registration preferable (for CPR Reserve sign-off)
Desired Skills
Mining Skills:
- Short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning
- Understanding of various mining methods
- Knowledge of the entire mining value chain for 3 to 5 commodities
- Compliance code exposure
- Understanding the context of project documentation (Concept, PFS, FS, DD, CPR, MWP)
- To fully utilize available mining engineering specialist software packages (i.e. Deswik (preferable), GEOVIA Surpac, GEOVIA MineSched)
- To provide solid technical inputs to every project/problem/situation that might arise under the project framework
