MANAGER OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS AND COMPLIANCEThe Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) is one of 27 regional districts in BC. We are a local government that provides governance and delivers a wide range of services to people living in seven electoral areas and four member municipalities that include, the City of Prince George, the District of Mackenzie, and the Villages of McBride and Valemount. Our administrative office is in Prince George, in North Central, BC on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation.The Regional District has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, self-starting and energetic individual to join the Environmental Services Department as the Manager of Environmental Programs and Compliance. This is an exempt position and the Manager directly supervises, assigns work, and monitors the performance of direct reports.NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORKThe Manager of Environmental Programs and Compliance provides leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for a broad portfolio of Environmental Services programs and service assets. This includes environmental monitoring and pollution control, waste diversion initiatives, and the stewardship and maintenance of Regional District parks, utilities, and facilities.Reporting to the General Manager of Environmental Services, the Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering programs that support environmental protection, regulatory compliance, and effective service delivery across Environmental Services. The position ensures environmental programs and facilities operate in accordance with applicable legislation, permits, and Regional District policies while supporting the long-term sustainability and stewardship of Regional District infrastructure and natural assets.The Manager works collaboratively with elected officials, staff, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public to provide technical expertise, policy analysis, and program leadership on a range of environmental and operational matters. The role guides staff, oversees contractors and consultants, manages budgets, and contributes to the development and implementation of departmental plans and initiatives.As a member of the Environmental Services management team, the Manager contributes to departmental leadership, supports strategic planning, and fosters a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEPost-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental management, infrastructure or facility oversight, or related regional district services, including a minimum of three (3) years in a leadership capacity in a government or public sector environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Police Record Check for offences related to this position.Certificate in Local Government Management or Local Government Administration is considered an asset.A Registered Professional (e.g., RPBio, PAg, PEng) or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional association.Solid Waste Management Association of North America certification in appropriate disciplines or equivalent training and experience is considered an asset.Valid Class 5 BC Driver's LicensePOSITION COMPENSATIONThe salary range for this position is $108,500 to $125,000 (2026 rate) and will be commensurate with education and years of experience.
