Principal Protection Control Engineer

Lead high-voltage protection and control engineering for Qualus in Canada, applying technical governance across utility and renewable energy projects.As a Principal Protection and Control Engineer, you will guide designs from concept through construction and commissioning. Your work spans 12 kV to 500 kV systems and includes protection philosophy, metering, relay settings, and detailed technical approvals. You will also mentor engineers and address complex system-level challenges.Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical governance across multiple projects and programsSet protection, control, and metering standards for substationsApprove complex designs, drawings, and technical deliverablesOversee coordination studies and high-voltage relay settingsSupport testing, inspections, commissioning, and client reviewsRequirements:
Twenty or more years of utility engineering experienceBachelor’s degree in Electrical EngineeringCanadian Professional Engineer registration or eligibilityExpertise in transmission, transformer, bus, and feeder protectionKnowledge of ASPEN, CAPE, EasyPower, SKM, or relay familiesApply principal-level judgment, protection expertise, and mentoring capability across Qualus transmission and distribution projects in Canada.
